I have stolen this idea completely from Blest with Sons, and I'm never, ever giving it back. Mine. Mine. Mine!I love it.
This is a cool craft THAT THE CHERUB CAN DO!!! She needs supervision, because she was fed up with putting beads on a pipe cleaner about halfway through, but that's bonding.=)
And there you have it- put a bead on a pipe cleaner and twist the end so the beads don't fall off. Put more beads on (most of these are plastic 'pony' beads, some are old wooden beads picked up in craft bags at thrift shops, and some came from a couple of pony bead crafts picked up for a song at a thrift shop and then untied for recycling at home!). When you get to the end twist the ends together to make a circle and then bend the pipe cleaner into a shape. For the spacially challenged it helps to get a cute cookie cutter to use a basic template. I did that to get that right proportions and then twisted and bent it a wee bit more.
I think it's darling, and a big juicy thank-you to Blest with Sons!
The first year we were married, we had a very tight budget for Christmas ornaments. Maybe total $5? I bought a couple of strings of red wooden beads (they were supposed to be fake cranberry garlands for stringing), broke them apart, and restrung them on shorter lengths of wire to make small wreaths (I think I made about 15). I added a ribbon bow on top of each and a yarn loop for hanging. We still have them with our tree ornaments and usually put a couple of them on each year.
ReplyDeleteThat year I also crocheted gold and blue yarn snowflakes to go on the tree. I was working but it was a really boring temp job where I was babysitting a phone (that rang maybe once an hour), and nobody cared if I crocheted while I was there. I know crocheted snowflakes are prettier if you make them with crochet cotton (they look a lot flakier), but the yarn versions are easier if you're not good at using thread. You just crochet the middle parts of doily patterns, and quit when they are the size that you want.
Anytime! That's what I'm here for!
ReplyDeleteBria would do this too! Thanks SO MUCH!! An advent activity she can participate in that ISN"T a movie or a book. I love both.. but..
ReplyDeletethanks again!!!
