Something New On My Desk

The Head Girl brought this (and many other things) home from our storage facility, thinking it might be cleaned up and put in our booth at a local antique mall and thrift shop.

I picked it up and said, basically, "oooooh."

She said she thought I might feel that way, so she hadn't done any research on how to price it. Smart chica. So for now it sits on my desk (I had to move my Parents' Reviews and a few other things to make room for it) giving me a cheerful sense of whimsy every time I look at it. I think it will look beautiful in the new kitchen.

  2. You know the verification letters? Well, they are the EXACT same colour as that tea pot right now!

And now I can't remember what I was going to say. :p

  4. *snort* Inner seagull- that's funny!

Btw, what is the purpose of the two spouts? And do you happen to have one in a deep cranberry?

  5. The teapot is divided inside, too. We have another divided teapot- shaped like a cat, very quirky and probably made in the 30's or so. I always thought the purpose was to put cream in one side and tea in the other, but in looking up information on this teapot I read that the other side is for hot water so you can adjust the strength of the tea. In which case I guess I'd make it really strong on the tea side, because otherwise half a pot won't go far.

Tea Master made this one, and they did make them in other colors. One of them is Chinese red, and it's very red and very wonderful looking- and very, very collectable.

I should mention that our 'storage facility' is very tongue in cheek- it's an old, run down, stuffed to the brim with junk and goodies house we inherited. We've carted away truckloads of junk, and we can't afford to fix the house (it needs an entirely new kitchen and it has no functional bathroom), and we have nowhere to put the stuff that's in it, and I haven't time to devote to sorting it as a full time job, which is what it would take. So we call it our 'storage facility' and gradually bring a few things home each week to clean and put in the booth- or not, as in the case of this teapot.=)

If the red one turns up, we'll let you know.:)

  7. Ha ha! This sort of thing occurs here occasionally (as you know, we are in a very similar situation); the latest thing was an almost-complete, at-least-fifty-or-so-year-old set of china. Very pretty stuff! It sat in our kitchen for a while, as dear Mother wrestled with the temptation to keep it. Now, we already have at least three sets of china between her, Grandma and I, but.....! At last, dear Mother looked it up on the net and found the same china going for nice prices on ebay. So after all, we wrapped it up and carted it off to grace our display case in the shop.

Not to say that several other items haven't been kidnapped!!!

  9. Texas Friend, had it been red I should have felt obligated to put it in the booth. Red seems to have been a more valuable color.
    Mrs. Happy- LOL!
