Well, I'm late again, and this is looking very bad, but really- it's not my fault. Julie did it. Okay, no, not Julie (that's a movie reference)- there is definitely a conspiracy here. Okay, maybe not a conspiracy. Last month it was blogger, this month it was the weather. I know you're all expecting me to claim the dog ate my carnival sometime. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm and our internet service went out right in the middle of posting something (which it lost), and my service still wasn't on when I went to bed at about 2 a.m. Technical support was busy whenever we tried, so we figured it was their problem rather than ours and they were working on it. It seems they did, because when I awoke this a.m. (about fifteen minutes ago), Pip told me it was up and running.
So, without further ado, here is the Homeschooling carnival, a support group in miniature, a hsing conference from the seat of your chair, an absolutely free hsing magazine that comes to you every week only better because it's real- not glossy- and immediate, stuff to reassure you, make you think, give you a lift, give you a laugh, and answer questions you have and questions you didn't know you had- stuff that gives you a glimpse into some of our living rooms. Welcome to our homes, and from our home to yours comes this (drum roll please), the 22nd edition of the Carnival of Homeschooling:
Melissa Markham at Home Sweet Home shares a post on Planning a Homeschool Co-op
Sherry at Semicolon suggests 100 More Things to Do When You're Bored, Summer Edition- she made a list of possible things to do for the urchins as they anticipate the lazy days of summer.
Patricia Hunter at Patricia Ann's Pollywog Creek Porch says "I summarize how and why we have moved from a regimental schedule that mirrored the local government school schedule to the more relaxed schedule that we have now" Year 'round schooling?
Here's a new one (new to me, anyway)- Lydia at Keep Your Eye on the Kids was asked by her local paper to write a homeschooling specific blog for them- isn't that cool?! She does, and it's called Little Blue School. She'd like to share her post “Zoo Tycoon University” with the Carnival of Homeschooling.
KimC presents You've come a long way, baby posted at Life in a shoe: the methods and madness of one mother of 7.
Queen of Carrots shares a post about Math, Painful and Not, In which she reminisces about the math she loved, the math she hated, and the things she learned completely out of order.
Denise at Let's Play Math shares Math Card War, The game that is worth a thousand worksheets.
Christine, otherwise known as The Thinking Mother, shares a reprint of an article by Deborah Stevenson of NHELD, a passionate article about the history of American public education, homeschooling history, and thoughts on the legality of homeschooling in America.
Jen at Jen's Horde loves timelines, and she tells us why.
Maureen O'Brien at Trinity Prep School says "I’ve Been Reading It All Wrong!"
Shannon Entin at PhatMommy explains why We're Not Really "Homeschoolers" at all- We're "Worldlearners"
Sprittibee shares some low-tech lesson plans- very cool.
Henry and Janine Cate, our founding parents, blog over at Why Homeschool and Janine shares her concerns about some destructive family trends.
Jackie Cromwell at the nerdfamily offers us a smile with a look at some Real Homeschool Mothers
Karen presents Charter Schools: Deal or No Deal? posted at The Thomas Institute.
Guiltfree Homeschooling offers a few ways to keep your kids' minds active, even if you take the whole summer off in Summer, is it a Help or a Hindrance?
Postscript:
Next week's carnival will be at PalmTree Pundits
Hope y'all can submit a post to the carnival next week.

The dog ate your carnival? Ha! That would be a good excuse to try...but I probably shouldn't joke about it because my dog has an affinity for electrical wires. He already ate through our cell phone charger : (
Anyway, I'll be back later and put up a link on my blog (probably tonight).
Thanks for hosting this! I've linked.
Great job! I enjoyed it. What a great group of homeschool blogs we've got here. It might take me all week to get all these links read. Thanks for the write-up and go take a nice, long summer nap!
Well, maybe you were a little late, but I missed the boat entirely. I really meant to contribute this week! Whoops.
Great carnival. Thanks for the hard work!

You're nothing, if not persistant! I think if I ran into all those technical problems I'd chalk it up to an act of God and give up. But I'm really glad you persevered! Great job. I'm linked.
Maureen, persistance? Perseverance?
Nah. Just sheer pigheadedness.
I know an even more fun arithmetic game, so I blogged it here.
I don't have the required account to leave this link at Denise's post. Would someone please do so for me?
Great roundup. We've linked it over at our place.
Thanks for hosting! Be sure to keep the dog away from your computer!
Thanks for including me! I really appreciate the work that went into putting this together. Whee!! :)
I have seen this all over and I finally checked it out. Great idea.

Very cool! I linked to you. I'm going to go check out all of these posts.
Thanks for doing this!
I feel a little silly for not paying attention, but. . . How does one submit a post for the next carnival?
