What To Do

Bite our nails? Cry? Hug our own children.

What else?

Pray, fast, pray some more.

What else?

Notice the four reasons DFPS (Texas CPS) can seize a child:

1. an immediate danger to the physical health or safety of the child,
2. the child has been the victim of sexual abuse.
3. the parent or person who has possession of the child is currently using a controlled substance,
4. the parent or person who has possession of the child has permitted the child to remain on premises used for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The only way CPS got away with this is by alleging sexual abuse of minors by eyeballing young women and deciding they were teens and unmarried. That netted them perhaps five. They snatched the rest by treating the entire community as a single household. They could do the same to your and your church or any community where the members love each other so much they say, "We're just one big happy family" one day.

Explain this to people.

This webpage will take you to the Representatives links where you can click to go to their websites and state email addresses:

This is the same for Senate members:

Contact:
Local and national media outlets as well. Point to the stories such as the nine mental health workers testifyiing to CPS lying to women, emotionally and verbally abusing and harassing them, lying to others about them (telling one Mental health worker all the women had STDS), or the story of Texas illegally detaining a 22 year old and then forcing the newly post partum woman to sleep on an air mattress the same night she's just given birth.

Contact:
Your own state's representatives and ask them why we have an agency that is above the law? Who watches CPS when CPS is abusive? Ask them to fix this unconstitutional agency. Explain to them that removing children from their homes is not a harmless intervention that is 'erring on the side of the children.'

Anybody else have something to suggest?

the strategy I recommend is to target specific cases -- such as young Mrs. Jessop who just gave birth -- where the facts are painfully obvious, where the specifics exclude any 13-16 year old girls (which might inflame emotions), and since the case already has a bit of noteriety.

Stressing the importance of the specific and individual persons is not only an easier "sale", if you will, but it will also highlight the gross injustice of a collective approach to guilt.

Can you recommend the best way to donate money? I'm interested in donating directly to separated parents for transportation costs and to legal funds.

DHM, thank you for your wonderful coverage on this. I get alternatively weepy or frothy about the mouth every time I try to post. I appreciate your information.

Thank you for the list and topics! I contacted each and every one of them, although I could not find individual emails to the MHMR Trustees, but a general email contact. I have been looking for such a list..thank you.

I've been looking at this list and I;m not sure I understand it entirely. I can 'remind' these people about DFPS' limitations (or supposed ones).. What good will telling that to the Mental HEalth Board do? And are these 'judges' the trustees of that board?

I plan to do some emailing, but want to make sure I'm going about it correctly.

Thanks!

I emailed President Bush, my own Governor, and Governor Perry.

I have a somewhat generic letter written. It wouldn't be that hard to email my own representatives and senators, as well as the Texas people you listed.

For some reason, I'm more upset today than I had been before. I'm through with sitting and reading about this without taking action.

Give money to TRLA and have it earmarked for the FLDS they are defending.

I have a header on my blog with Fax and email info for Governor Perry and President Bush.

I don't live in Texas. I am really hoping for Federal intervention here.
