*This is a good thing to make and have on hand in large quantities when your husband's work schedule is a swing or night shift, and/or also when your priorities are unusual and you always buy dog food before groceries. A more frugal person might wonder why the 100 lb. dog, but clearly people that frugal must always be miserable little Scrooges with sad and miserly mouths turned down all the time.
Ingredients:
1 to 2 Lbs. Ground Beef
One Large Turnip
A Plethora of Carrots
One Onion
1 Clove Garlic
A Plethora of Parsley Leaves (Hey, that sounded pretty. The Equuschick should write a folk song.)
Fourish Maybe Cups of Chicken Stock (However much you happen to have in a jar in the freezer)
Lemon Juice with Sour Milk as a Substitute for Sour Cream, to Taste (Unless you don't like sour cream in your soups. The Equuschick does.)
Onion Powder, Salt and Pepper, Garlic Powder, and Etc. All to Taste
Directions:
*Brown Ground Beef over the stove until cooked thoroughly.
*Drain the Ground Beef, reserving the grease.
*Peel and slice into bite-sized pieces the turnip, the carrots, the onion, and the garlic clove. (Unless you happen to have a garlic press. Lucky duck.)
*Saute all the vegetables and the Parsley Leaves in the reserved grease from the ground beef until translucent.
*Combine the vegetables with the Ground Beef and the Chicken Stock. You might want to remember to get the Chicken Stock out of the freezer earlier than The Equuschick did. If you forgot, don't worry. Just cover the vegetables and the ground beef and store in the fridge until your Chicken Stock finally thaws. Use an Arby's coupon for lunch instead, only don't buy the Curly Q fries too or you will have failed as a Frugal Person and you'll have to sit with The Equuschick at the next women's Co-op.
*Once your Chicken Stock has thawed and you've added it to the veggies and the meat, begin heating the pot over the stove, adding the Lemon Juice, Sour Milk, and other misc. spices.
*Bring to a Boil
*Simmer to Your Satisfaction. The Equuschick happens to like her turnips and carrots rather squishy.
*Remove from Heat. If you're planning on saving it for later, cool completely and then store in the fridge or freezer to have on hand when your husband gets home at 10 pm or you wake up at 2 am and are very hungry.
