Not NEARLY as nifty as the hearts, flowers, and happy sighs of two people who make up separate puzzle pieces of the same puzzle suddenly discovering that fact after four years of friendship, but still nifty...
The HG met with two history advisors to discuss her 50 page paper. They tell her it is outstanding work, they've not seen work of this caliber from an undergrad before, and encourage her to look into contacting a state historical society and getting it published as a small book. There are some changes she needs to make, but they are so pleased with her work that they tell her she can do this over the summer, and they will each devote some time to helping her with the project- overseeing her work, suggesting lines of additional research, and helping with the query letter.
"You realize," she points out, "I'm graduating in May. I'm not coming back, so I won't be a student here anymore."
They don't care. They really want to help her with this project, so she will be concluding her college career with quite a flourish.
I suspect they secretly hope to tempt her back to school, but they have not seen the way she and the young man look at each other, and I have.=)
