The HG tells me some friends of hers did this last year. You follow the alphabet and post one thing you're thankful for each day between Nov. 1 and the 26th.
Here's my list thus far:
1. Ashes- for the ashes of leaves in the fall that smell of autumn, crisp cool mornings, sharp blue skies, and poetry. For the ashes of our bonfires where we have watched relationships develop, love grow, and shared in song together. And especially because the Lord gives those who mourn beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3)
2. B... after all that I'd like to say 'blessings,' but that's kind of like saying, 'I'm thankful for things that I should be thankful for,' so I won't say that. I will say BABIES- my babies who were so warm and sweet and snuggly and laughable and lively and dear, who grew up to become snuggly, laughable, lively and lovely and dear young people, and to bring other dear, lively, lovable people into our lives, including the newest BABY of all, the darling grand-baby. And for boys, boys who wonder one day why there is soap on the washcloth and soak for hours in the bathtub while reading Redwall books the next day. Boys who hold and rock and walk their nephews so awkwardly they look like inebriated storks, and then who suddenly get it, and look up at me and grin, eyes aglow. Boys who one day are throwing snowballs at my daughters and telling me they hate girls and they will never marry, and then the next day are married to one of my daughters, and shortly thereafter fathers themselves.
3. C- church, a community of much support, friendship, encouragement, and love.
4. D Daddies who love their children, dote on them, and also discipline and disciple them.
How about you?
5. E, Eggs
