I am sure I'm rather late to the game on this, but just this week I took the time to sit down and browse many of Amazon's free MP3 downloads. I've been reloading my iPod so I can have music to listen to while cleaning after the kids go to bed without risking disturbing them... one room apartment and all. While browsing, I found the
Jordi Savall Amazon Sampler
and... wow. Savall is a viol player from Spain and this album has some of his original compositions on it along with baroque and renaissance pieces. Each song is well-crafted and beautiful. Some times I fall into the trap of thinking free music downloads must be inferior music (me? a music snob?); that is absolutely not the case here!
Actually, after browsing the list of
Top 100 Free Music Downloads
, I became even more aware of how off base my thinking had been. I was able to download some Native American flute lullabies, hymns, Turkish pop music (truly energizing for cleaning!), and several classical albums. If you're a homeschooling mom with a tight budget and a small town library, this is a wonderful way to incorporate good music into your family's library!
(with all the new changes Blogger is doing, I think only the most recent post is showing up on the home page... which is a bit awkward and frustrating. I'm going to go check the settings for that, but while I do that, I want to make sure none of you miss the
DHM's Give Away Post!
I downloaded the Native American flute lullabies a few weeks ago and love it. I was just browsing for something free and different to listen to.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the 100 downloads!
I like Indian music for cleaning house--Bollywood dance music and bhangra are both good, except sometimes I end up dancing instead of cleaning. Oh well, it's exercise, right?
ReplyDeleteOn the Blogger weirdness front, I'm seeing more than just the most recent post on the front page, so that seems to have been fixed.
