HOmeschoolers might want to listen to the files of Pearl Harbour broadcasts. Mike's Noise shares several links.
Amanda Witt of Wittingshire has a thoughtful post about why we should remember:
If we didn't officially mark September 11, we would still remember it. But it takes effort to remember an event that neither we nor any living person we know experienced. It takes effort to enflesh the past, to see in the mind's eye real men and women grappling with difficult times, difficult choices.
It takes effort to remember that the world did not begin with us, and likely will not end with us. Life went on before we lived. Life goes on after we die. That is why what we do with each day matters--our life is but a vapor. This is our vale of soul-making, when we discover what we are made of, what we can make of ourselves, what God can make of us if we let him.
My father calls me on Dec. 7th every year and asks if I know what today is. The proper reply is "a day that will live in infamy" no other answer is acceptable.
ReplyDelete(Ok, my father calls me everyday but this particular day he has a special question. )
