+ I am working really hard at eating breakfast within an hour of getting up. When the Striderling came home from the hospital last year and we went into the whirlwind of oxygen management, tube feedings, therapies, and a new baby, I fell into the trap of thinking, "After I do x, I'll eat... oh... something else came up... well after that's done, and this, aaaaand..." Not a wise course of action and we all suffered from Mommy Not Feeding Herself. So I've made it a bigger priority this year and it's showing, in a positive way. A favorite breakfast so far: oatmeal with peaches (bought frozen, on sale) and maple syrup (purchased with a very cool online deal).
+ Reading Early-Start Potty Training
because I think the Striderling could actually do well at toilet training. Have any of you readers done early toilet training or elimination communication? Tips? Advice? Encouragement?

+ On the Vitamin D front, I found an article last week about a study linking good Vitamin D levels to lower diabetes levels. The information about the studies is here.
+ And there was going to be more, but the two month old woke up just as the fifteen month old decided to try crawling from the couch to a rickety end table AND my supper finished up in the oven. whew. Timing is everything in life, eh? ;)
If the Striderling seems like he is in a place where could learn to use the toilet, go for it! When ds1 hit that point at about 1 year, we were not able to act on it. The window never opened again!
ReplyDeleteHe's 3 now, and uses his bodily functions as an expression of autonomy. In other words, he IS potty-trained, he just sometimes makes the less desirable choices.
If he's interested, go with it. My two-year-old is mostly trained (she needs a bit of reminding and some help with her clothes), and it is awesome. Anytime we don't need to change a diaper is wonderful (we cloth diaper, so it means one less thing to wash).
ReplyDeleteProduct recommendation: Potty Time by Two Little Hands (the same people who did Signing Time). It's songs and signs about using the potty, and my daughter has loved it. The songs are singable and most of them are useable for more than just pottying. We paid $20 for it new and found it worth the money, but if you can borrow or find one used, do so.
Some days he will do awesome and some days you will think all your training has gone out the window, but it will all work out. Good luck, and have fun!
I do early potty training. My crazy advice would be to start with both babies now. :-) And just keep it fun and relaxed.
