Alleged Terrorists Arrested in Lodi, California

Lodi, pronounced 'load-eye', is south of Sacramento, a beautiful wine-growing area of California's 'northern kingdom.' That part of California has been a popular destination for Middle Eastern immigrants, and 2500 Pakistanis now call Lodi home.
Authorities say Hamid Hayat, 22, returned last year after training in an al-Qaida terrorist camp and planned to attack hospitals and supermarkets in the United States. His father, Umer Hayat, is alleged to have paid for his son's training at a clandestine Pakistani camp. Both are charged with lying to investigators.

Three others have been detained for immigration violations, including two imans. Understandably, this is making local residents nervous. The immigrant community is worried about unpleasant backlash from the rest of the town, and many town residents are worried about whether or not a nest of terrorists has been seething beneath the surface.
