Bookage

I am re-reading Emma. I'm not far into it at the moment as my reading time lately has been snatched at odd moments, instead of being allotted luxurious slots.

Re-reading an excellent book allows you to soak in more details instead of being driven along by the plot. This is, I think, the third time I have read this book. It is probably my least favorite Austen novel, which simply means that I like it 10 times better than most other British novels compared to 100 times better for the rest of her books. Many people have defined it as one of the best books ever written. Doubtless it is. I just cannot stand Emma the first 3/4 of the book. She grates upon me excessively, and none of Austen's humour can allay my irritation.

Mr. Knightley, however, is different. To quote someone else from another Austen novel, "he is the kindest and best of men." :-)

In other news, I am attempting to learn a bit of Russian from a native speaker and I've been doing a lot of daydreaming about travel. Oh, wait. That latter bit isn't news, I suppose...happens all the time.
