There are a lot of games for the Kindle, most of which we don't own so we cannot tell you anything about them.
On our recent car trip to my niece's wedding, however, we tried out four of them. Two were free, the other two I bought using Amazon gift cards via Swagbucks.
Triple Town- you have a grid with little pictures of things- grass, flowers, bushes, trees, an axe in a stump, church buildings, gravestones, barbarians, and an annoying creature called a wizard who just gets in the way. You want to get three items in a row while turning all your barbarians and the wizards into gravestones. Three plots of grass in a row turns into a flower, three flowers into a bush, three bushes into a tree, etc.
Mine Sweeper- find the mines, but this never interested me enough to figure it out and so I was blown up in my first move both times I played it. This may be why it never interested me...
Pirate Stash- Mazes, logic, from simple to complex, pirates, treasure chests- I recommend this one.
Every Word- basic word scramble game- you are given a scrambled word and you try to make as many words as possible from it. You can play it timed or not. We prefer timed.
I learned that Triple Town is a ridiculously addictive game on the Kindle and it sucks out your brain cells and your will power and basically turns you into a zombie who tunes out the rest of your traveling companions for no good reason at all, but Pirate Stash is fun to play, requires a bit more strategy, and can be interactive as well (plus, it's much shorter to complete a game). With Pirate Stash you are completing mazes, getting the pirate to his treasure chest, pushing the chests to the place where they are to be buried. You can complete a task, and then repeat it if you like, trying to shorten your time. At my son's suggestion, we took turns playing the same round and then we compared scores.
As soon as I master Triple Town I am removing it from my Kindle.

are any of your letters rubbing off your keys? I got my kindle last fall and played a couple word games quite often for a time... until my buttons began to fade! :D Not sure if I should risk any more games... :)
