A while ago I put some leftover coffee in an ice cube tray and froze it, then put the coffee ice in a ziplock bag.
This morning I took so long doing morning tasks that I let my coffee cool too much. I realized I didn't really want a cup of hot coffee, so I took my regular cup of coffee and spooned off a bunch more cream (this is a very precise recipe, can you tell?) from the top of our raw milk. This milk comes from a jersey or two and a belted dutch, one of whom gave birth recently so she's really laying on the cream. It is *rich*. The layer of cream rising to the top of my half gallon jar of milk is usually between two and 3 inches deep, and the cows are grass fed. This cream is the creme de la creme of creme.
To be more precise, I didn't spoon it off, I took a clean medicine syringe and basically suctioned the cream off the top of the jar of milk.
I put the cream and cooling cup of coffee in the blender along with two or three coffee ice cubes, a dropper full of hazelnut stevia, and some cinnamon and whirled it all into a cold, creamy, caffeinated beverage of low carb delishisness. It's so good that I don't even want my omelette now, so it's growing cold. I am noticing a trend in my day.
I will say that I don't think you'd like it if you were slurping on a milk shake yesterday. But if you've been sugar free for a week or more, well, coffee nirvana, baby, coffee nirvana. This would be really yummy with a flax seed and cocoa cookie

ReplyDeleteI make 2.5 gallons almost every weekend and keep it in one of those refrigerator water dispensers with a spigot on the bottom.
I make mine with heavy cream and sometimes Da Vinci or Torani SF syrups, sometimes flavored stevia.
I want to shop for milk where you do! We've been drinking raw milk since 1990 but I'm having trouble getting some right now!
How about a close-up of those lovely, lovely bookcases?
