Pizza Fondue
This makes enough to serve 27- we divide it into three gallon sized freezer bags A family of four could make six meals from this recipe.
Three pounds of cheap polish sausage.
Dice this and brown it with 4 diced onions and 6 crushed garlic cloves (we have a large family). Divide that into three gallon sized freezer bags. You don't even have to brown the sausage and cook the onions, we just prefer the flavor. But I'm not sure it makes a big enough difference to be a deal-breaker if you don't have time to brown the sausage, onions, and garlic.
Add this sauce to *each* bag:
One jar spaghetti sauce (or equivilant of home-made sauce)
2 teaspoons basil
2 teaspoons oregano
1/2 bag frozen peppers
Seal, label, and freeze (actually, I find it works better to label the bags before filling)
To serve, we defrost one bag from morning until lunchtime, and put it in the crockpot after lunch in order to have it ready for dinner.
For supper we added some olives and mozzarella cheese to the sauce. Then we set out plates of quartered mushrooms, onion slices, a variety of toasted breads, sliced garlic bread, and lightly breaded and fried zucchinni sticks.
We served it with a side salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, in Italian salad dressing.
We have also grilled the vegetables for dipping, and we've had it with meatballs. It's a big hit with everybody except our oldest, who claims it gives her heartburn.
This would also make a fun hospitality dish, as you could ask your guests to contribute different breads.
