1) The Twenty Four Days Before Christmas by Madeleine L'Engle - a beautiful, but simple, read aloud story about a family celebrating Christmas together. We try to read a small bit to the Little People each night...although those of us who read on our own generally devour it all in an evening.
2) Seeing Salvation - I only read this a couple years ago, but I took copious notes. It's a wonderful history of how Christ's life has been represented in art. Very thoughtful, very beautifully written, and very well researched. I don't agree with all of the authors' conclusions, but they present much food for thought.
Thanks for these recommendations! I had never heard of this L'Engle book, even though she is perhaps my most favorite authoress.
