Lefitst Krugman demonstrates deep thought in the 'reality based' community.
Dirty little secret:
...neither Republicans or Democrats who have become part of the career ruling class have any real desire to shrink government. The Republicans are willing to slow its growth occasionally — and they do believe in lower taxes; but as the Bush years should have taught us, they’re just as willing to spend as the Democrats, because giving gifts with other people’s money — and being praised for it — is the absolute easiest form of cheap grace on earth. You should read the rest.
The entire establishment political class is corrupt. And it has declared open war against those Americans still left who believe in fiscal responsibility and a constitutional check on federal powers. Both the establishment Republicans and the Democrats (and their ancillary and parasitic attendants in the media and the inside-the-beltway political machinery) have shown themselves immediately willing to scapegoat the one anti-big government faction willing to insist on making the difficult choices necessary to save the country from the bloated, cynical, complacent pig class who presumes to run it in our name — though never in the way we wish. And that’s because party doesn’t really matter any longer, as I’ve been saying for years now.
The President's bus tour is a campaign tour, short and simple, but one the taxpayers are paying for. Why is that acceptable? It's actually illegal, but he does it anyway, right out in front of the entire world, and the media does not call him on it, Washington does not call him on it. It's deeply disturbing.
Al Sharpton's career path to Presidential Advisor and MSNBC anchor.
One of the most bizarre WWII plots, ever.
I assume you know that Pawlenty has withdrawn from the race.
Heartbreaking:
"We're fed up with being broke," one rioter was reported as having said, as if having enough money to satisfy one's desires were a human right rather than something to be earned.
"There are people here with nothing," this rioter continued: nothing, that is, except an education that has cost $80,000, a roof over their head, clothes on their back and shoes on their feet, food in their stomachs, a cellphone, a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, an electric stove, heating and lighting, hot and cold running water, a guaranteed income, free medical care, and all of the same for any of the children that they might care to propagate.
Here's a slideshow of some before and after pictures of the riots in Britain.
Take a look at Brandy's Miscellaneous Monday Musings, too- she has a bunch of links I was going to share, but she already tidied them up so I don't have to.=) George Soros, Organic chicken food, and more!
You have the same with the Republicans and Democrats as we have with the Conservatives and Labour parties.... very little difference between the two - slightly different rhetoric, but that's about all.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on last week's riots. Underclass? Underprivileged? No hope for the future?? In court, these past few days, charged with rioting, we've had a ballerina, a student at Exeter University, a son of a millionaire, a school's classroom assistant.
If I hear one more pathetic politician or commentator on TV or on the radio blaming cuts in government spending for the riots, I'll be tempted to throw my own brick at the device.... except that I'd have to pay to replace it ;)
Can you tell they rattled my cage!
Jon Stewart on the Obama bus tour. Not his best work, but he noticed.

Off topic, this is one of my favorite pieces by Jon Stewart's show: Stewart sent a "correspondent" to Iran, who produced a series of segments that speak straight to American stereotypes. This is just one segment, and it leaves me smiling every time I watch it:
