These were put together hastily to get an idea of what I wanted. They are 'candies' made of dominoes wrapped in crepe paper or tissue paper.
You could also do this with scrabble tiles, small blocks.
Cut out a strip of paper wide enough to wrap the domino and about three times as long as the domino.
Wrap the domino in double sided tape, lay it down in the center of the crepe or tissue paper. Wrap it by bringing the longest sides of the ribbon together, leaving a long bit of paper at each short end of the domino to make the wrapped edges.
Tie the wrapped ends shut with a bit of gold or silver string, or just twist them shut.
Keep these 'candies' in a basket, or string them together for a garland of candies, or attach ornament holders to each one to hang on a tree or a mobile, or tie into a wreath. Use whatever pattern you like for wrappers, and you can also add further designs to the paper if desired.
Oh- these were just a quick experiment. I suggest you spray paint the dominoes or use more opaque paper.
These would last about five minutes in my house, before my children took an attempt to eat whatever was wrapped in the paper. If it looks like food, that gives you license to take a bite! Or, at least, so I am led to believe, since the styrofoam 'food' I get for the kids to play kitchen with always ends up with bites taken out of it.
